Simon Says ,,,,,,, Make a Gift

Thank you everyone for all your fabulous Summertime Blues creations :-) I know the weather in some countries has been terrible and has given you the 'Blues' but at least you were able to get into your crafty dens and didn't waste time in the garden :-)

I am not sure who's idea it was for this weeks challenge ,,,,, but I LOVE it :-) It is so nice to make something a little bit different from cards :-)

MAKE A GIFT :-)

As always we are sponsored by the lovely Heidi and she will be giving one lucky entrant a trolley dash around her Simon Says Stamp Store to the value of $25 !! There are some fabulous new brands just arriving too ,,,, we now have Lili of the Valley stamps !! Woo Hoo !!! AND the new Unmounted House Mouse stamps too :-)

We have the very talented Jackie aka Days in the Life of,,,joining us in the Designer Spotlight for a month and if you haven't visited her blog you are in for a real treat :-) her work is fabulous ! :-)

I decided to make a wall hanging for my daughter ,, it is her birthday soon so I made this for her ,,, she is very 'arty' :-) The theme over on our sister challenge ,, the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge is ' Wendy Vecchi' inspired . After a lovely browse around Wendy's blog I decided to CASE this. I don't have any Wendy Vecci products so I had to adapt a bit :-)

I had some thick card that a local framer gave me, I inked it with forrest moss distress ink and inked the edges with vintage photo. I then used a nestie shape Labels 8 to cut some grungepaper, I inked this with rusty hinge and used a Penny Black script stamp, inked with potters clay memento ink and stamped the whole thing.
flower was made using a Tim Holtz Tattered Floral die, I cut this out of grungepaper too ,, inked with stormy sky distress ink and the polka dots were stamped using a Simon Says Stamp exclusives set. I then sanded the flowers to distress them a bit and remove the starkness of the spots :-)
I used the TH Elegant Flourishes die to cut swirls out of grungepaper too ,,, I inked these with forrest moss distress ink ,,, Wendy used leaves but I thought these worked quite well too :-)
Wendy Vecchi used some memo pins ,, well I don't have any ,, so I made a couple with a bit of craft wire ,, I thought these worked quite well ,,,, but I will be ordering proper pins for future projects :-) I just used a little bit of paper from TH Lost and Found pad,, I was just testing really to see if it worked so will make another 2 with 28 and 8 ,,,, Amy's birthday. I should have thought of that earlier !!
The 'MAKE ART' was stamped using hero arts stamps and stazon ,,, in retrospect I should have stamped them on a scrap piece first so the letters wouldn't be so stark ,,, we live and learn eh !! I used a muse token ,, it says 'unique' ,, quite fitting I thought ,,, even though this is a copy !! LOL :-) I only had silver chain to attach it ,, and that didn't look right so I improvised with a couple of TH paper clips, the button in the flower center is also a TH vintage one ,, lovely eh :-)

edited ,, I forgot to add , I used American Tag hemp Twine too ,, I love the earthy colours that are available in this too ,, gorgeous :-)

I really enjoyed making this and feel that I learned something new ,, and a few things of what NOT to do !! I 'think' Amy will like it !! :-)

The Jackie and the DT have made some gorgeous 'Gifts' for you to see so hop on over to the Simon Says Stamp Challenge to see them ,,, and join in too !!! :-)

Ohhh, Lols, your gift is gorgeous. I love that look and you have done a great job with the techniques. I've been popping over to Wendy's blog a lot lately too and love how she creates. You have used some of my favorite Tim Holtz dies and I love how you colored the cutouts. Love all of the little extras as well. Your daughter is going to love it! Hope you have a wonderful day!
